New Argyll Band, 32 Miles to breakfast is showcasing their new EP at a major music industry event this week. The band will gig at Mad Hatters in the city at 8.45pm on Thursday 7th June as part of the programme for goNorth, the week long event taking place in Inverness.

32 Miles is only in its second year of existence. With an average age of 17, Alexander McMahon, vocals & acoustic guitar; John Kennedy, bass & vocals; William McMahon, guitars; and Scotty Rolland on drums are clearly going to make a big impact very soon. They have a command of song-writing well beyond their years, delivering an entire set of original material with plenty to spare. Their songs offer poetic sensitivity and strident energy in equal measure.

Mags Russell and John Saich at Wild Biscuit Music offered to work with the band in developing their skills, recording their work and getting them in front of promoters. The plan was that the band would work hard to hone their craft and explore new directions, with none of the copycat excesses that seduce many teenage musicians.

In 2006, 32 Miles performed at Go HI in Inverness, their sure-handed set attracting high praise from some of Scotland’s most respected music industry delegates. Wild Biscuit have now produced a new EP with them. ‘Acid Rain’ highlighting their growing confidence and hinting at what this dynamic, mature and eloquent band is going to become.

As well as our podcast, check the band out on MySpace and note that the Wild Biscuit team are partners with Radio Fyneside in working to develop and promote young musicians in Argyll. There is a lot more to come.
